modern and contemporary art seeks a full-time Gallery Manager. The
ideal candidate should have a background in arts management, be
organized, detail oriented, and reliable with a professional and
friendly manner. Complete administrative responsibilities include
financial, website, advertising and public relations, client
relations, inventory management, exhibition and art fair coordination.
Knowledge of Artbase and QuickBooks with a minimum of two years

Summer and Fall 2011 Kennedy Center Internship Program

Applications now accepted!

The DeVos Institute of Arts Management Internship Program provides valuable on-the-job instruction for current college students (juniors and seniors) and recent graduates pursuing careers in arts management. Interns enjoy close working relationships with experienced arts management professionals, hands-on work opportunities, weekly seminars, and an integrated blend of independent and collective learning experiences. Internship placements, in departments throughout the Kennedy Center, are full-time and last three to four months depending on the program semester.

Brooklyn Arts Council seeks Gallery/Administrative Interns

Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), an arts service organization and presenter based in the dynamic DUMBO arts district and working throughout the borough - seeks a savvy and energetic intern.


The Gallery/Administrative Intern is the first point of contact for all visitors to Brooklyn Arts Council's office and provides general administrative support to the Executive Assistant to the President and BAC Visual Arts Director. The Gallery/Administrative Intern will also assist in the maintenance of the Artist Registry and Directory of Organizations, two membership-based online databases.


Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) was founded in 1966 and is the umbrella for Brooklyn’s range of cultural groups and individual artists working in the visual, performing, media, and literary arts. BAC helps Brooklyn’s artist population–from the experimental to those preserving and evolving traditions of cultural heritage–create and present their work. BAC ensures that thousands of people throughout Brooklyn have access to a variety of free arts programming each year. Our programs are essential to the livelihoods of thousands of artists, creative professionals, and arts organizations across the borough. This is an excellent opportunity to become a part of a well-established cultural organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet office visitors, answer phones, direct calls and distribute faxes
  • Data entry: maintain the organization's contact database and mailing lists
  • Monitor and report Artist Registry and Directory activity
  • BAC Gallery Support including maintaining data spreadsheets and contacting artists as well as other related duties, as necessary
  • Attend and assist with BAC Gallery openings, events and First Thursday programs
  • Attend and assist with Verge Art Fair hours
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • General administrative duties and programmatic support as needed, including filing, assisting with mailings, meeting room set-up and general office maintenance


Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Database experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented


Preferred Qualifications:

·        Interest in arts and/or knowledge of Brooklyn arts scene preferred

·        Bachelors degree or degree candidate preferred
